Bayani is an open source and free scientific environment! Bayani is an open source and free scientific environment! It is meant to serve people with different backgrounds, from the high school level to the graduate one. It is mainly destined for the UNIX/Linux plateforms and was primarily designed for the Arabic community, since such toolkits were practically nonexistent.However, the power of new internationalization tools made it possible to target users indifferently from the spoken language. This is particularly astonishing when it comes to symbolic computation and scripting, which can be totally localized in a specific language.It is is released under the GPL License.Here are some key features of "Bayani":· 2D graphics, including function drawing (via a fast interpreter), data representation in histograms and 2D graphs (with asymmetric error bars).· Representation of data contained in text files.· FITS images display (the standard data format used in Astronomy).· Highly configurable drawing: graphical attributes, graph superimposition, logarithmic and/or reversed axes, settable graph bounds.· Possibility to draw many graphs in one frame.· The frames are savable in PNG format.· Linear data fitting.· Symbolic computation, currently limited to expression evaluation and simplification and function derivation.· A script language to reproduce actions.· Total localization to Arabic and French. This means a localized interface, symbolic computation, script and drawing.· And much more...Requirements:· QT3Installation:Since autotools are not yet implemented, in order to compile Bayani you have to tell 'make' where your QT path is:prompt> make QTDIR='Your-Own-QTDIR-Path'(for example, if your QT3 library directory is "/usr/lib/qt3/":prompt> make QTDIR='/usr/lib/qt3/')-------------------------------------------------------------------------if your QT3 library directory is "/usr/local/qt/" just run:prompt> makeorprompt> gmake
