Henry Description
Henry is an educational astrometry utility for performing calculations based on a Hertzsprung-Russel (H-R) diagram. Henry is an educational astrometry utility for performing calculations based on a Hertzsprung-Russel (H-R) diagram, such as spectroscopic parallax for working out the distance to a given star.Unlike many other solutions that use in-built images for their H-R diagrams, Henry plots data directly from the European Space Agency's HIPPARCOS catalogue, allowing increased accuracy while also giving students greater room to experiment by exploring the catalogue themselves.Henry runs on Windows, Mac OSX, Linux, and anywhere Qt4 and OpenGL are available. This project is free (as in speech and beer) and licensed under a BSD-style license.Requirements:· Qt 4.x· Cmake· OpenGL (for the plot widget)· Cmake 2.4 or higher (to build)Installation:$ cd build$ cmake ..$ makeThen, to run Henry,$ src/henryYou'll also need data files -- the bin-lzma package is probably the one you want. It contains the lzma-compressed HIPPARCOS catalogue in Henry binary star format. What's New in This Release:· added regexp support in star queries· user defined stars tab in query dialog now works· full LZMA support for compressed stardata files
