eXPress-linux LXDE Description

eXPress-linux LXDE is a freely distributed and open source distribution of Linux derived from the world’s most popular free operating system, Ubuntu Linux, and built around the fast and lightweight LXDE graphical desktop environment. It’s designed for Italian-speaking users. It’s available for download as a dual-arch Live CD The LXDE edition of eXPress-linux is available for download via Softpedia or directly from the project’s official website (see link above) as a dual-arch Live CD ISO image. Currently, the Live CD contains packages optimized for both 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x86_64) instruction set architectures, and fits perfectly on a CD disc or a USB thumb drive of 1GB or higher capacity. Features four different live modes When booting the operating system from the BIOS of a computer, the user will encounter a boot menu that allows him or her to run the live system with normal settings, in safe graphics mode, in text only mode or in debug mode. In addition, it is possible to perform a system memory diagnostic test, boot an existing OS that is currently installed on the first disk drive detected by the BIOS, as well as to start the graphical installer directly and perform a fresh install. LXDE looks great, the default language is Italian As mentioned, the default language for the live system is Italian and the graphical desktop environment is powered by LXDE (Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment), which features a single taskbar located on the bottom edge of the screen. Contains a handful of open source applications When using eXPress-linux LXDE, you will be able to view images with Mirage, write text documents with AbiWord, edit spreadsheets with Gnumeric, surf the Internet with Chromium, write CDs and DVDs with Xfburn, watch movies with GNOME MPlayer, chat with your friends and family using Skype and Emesene, as well as to share files with aMule. It is no longer under active development Be aware that, as of 21 April, 2013, both the Openbox and LXDE editions of the eXPress-linux operating system are no longer under active development.
