shib-http-client Description

shib-http-client is a minimalistic, portable, open source and functional web-based software written in the Java programming language and designed as a wrapper around the Apache HTTPClient project. shib-http-client includes support for Shibboleth protection, uses a pre-defined IdP (identity provider), lets users to login to the identity provider via HTTP basic authentication, as well as to disable all certificate checks. How does it work? Simple, you make a request to the service provider, which wants to know who you are, you ask the identity provider to reveal your identity through a ticket, you give the ticket to the service provider, which will reply to your request.
