Phonix Description

Phonix is an open-source, domain-specific language for modeling phonological transformations, such as synchronic linguistic processes or diachronic sound changes. Phonix employs a simple notation to represent phonological rules that is very similar to the standard notation used in linguistic texts. Phonix refers to the Phonix programming language for modeling phonological processes, and informally to the program ‘phonix’ that interprets Phonix language files and applies the rules contained therein to a lexicon.Detailed instructions on how to install and use the Phonix utility on your Mac are available HERE.Phonix is cross-platform and it works on Mac OS X and Windows.
