You simply yank the headphones out of your mobile device to trigger an alert sequence which includes texts and emails sent to your emergency contacts. YankTM is the perfect companion app that is an intuitive alert mechanism perfect for runners, college students, hikers, bikers, and more. Simply plug in your headphones, activate YankTM, and let it run in the background as you listen to your favorite music application. If you feel threatened, become injured, or encounter an issue, just yank your headphones out of your mobile device. This will initiate a 20 second countdown that will send your GPS location to your emergency contacts via email and/or text* once the countdown expires. Users in immediate danger can send an instant alert by tapping the countdown button. A one-tap option for you to personally connect with your emergency contacts is also provided. If the alert was a false alarm, you can stop the countdown by entering your PIN** or send an "All Clear" message if the countdown completed before you were able to cancel it. The PIN can be changed at any time Yank™ is not in the armed or countdown state. *** Changing your Settings > Notification Center > Yank™ to “Alerts” is recommended as this enables a one-tap switch to Yank™ to stop accidental countdowns or to quickly send an immediate alert by tapping the countdown button. Yank™ runs in the background. When armed, Yank™ will continue to monitor your device's GPS (and your location) when you launch other apps. You will periodically hear an audio tone when Yank™ is armed to let you know it's working. This sound will continue playing when you launch other apps. When you safely reach your destination, be sure to deactivate Yank™. Continued use of GPS and audio running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
