FlipView Free Description

Treats a folder full of JPG images as a flipbook, and can change the images fast enough to create the illusion of motion FlipView Free is "yet another JPG picture viewer" - but with a difference, a quite big one actually. It treats a folder full of JPG images as a flipbook, and can change the images fast enough to create the illusion of motion, at any frame rate from 0 to 30 frames per second. It also can create extremely high "virtual" frame rates - up to 900,000 frames per second - by skipping frames. Use it for motion analysis, motion testing, and to discover unexpected motion in a folder full of still images. The images are scaled to fit in a 640x480 pixel window. Small images are scaled up and large images are scaled down. Loading and scaling a large image takes time, which will reduce the flipping rate. When the aspect ratio (shape) of the images changes from image to image, the image will flicker as FlipView Free blacks out the display window between images. Sequences of 640x480 frames give the best illusion of motion. FlipView Free\'s main window contains all the controls you need to navigate to a folder full of JPG files. You can browse to a drive, enter a path directly, copy and paste a path from Windows Explorer, or open a folder browser to aim FlipView Free at a folder. Once you are on a drive, you can use the folder tree in the upper left to move among the folders on that drive. When you\'ve chosen a folder containing JPG files, FlipView Free shows you the first image in the folder and enables the Play/Stop command. The images are always scaled to fit into the 640x480 viewing area on the window. Click on the Play command (alt-P) to start the show. The Play/Stop command\'s caption changes to Stop (alt-P) and the images flip. FlipView Free will do its best to flip the images at the rate you\'ve set. It has to load the file, decompress it, and show it on screen, sized to fit the 640x480 viewing area. This obviously works best with images that are 640x480 pixels or smaller. As the file sizes and image dimensions go up, the time needed to process an image goes up and the flip rate goes down. You may be pleasantly surprised by how fast even fairly large images will flip. The screen will appear to flicker each time the aspect ratio (shape) of the image changes, since FlipView Free has to clear the display area to completely get rid of the old image before showing the new one. When you\'re not playing, FlipViewFree checks the folder about every 3 seconds. If the number of files in the folder changes, FlipView Free shows the last file in the folder and updates the scroll bar. This is very useful for animation. If you save JPG files into the folder FlipView Free is looking at, FlipView Free will always show you the last frame you saved. 2 megabytes for program files Pentium III 550, Duron 600 or faster processor 24 or 32 bit color graphics, SVGA (800x600) or larger display
