HDDScan Description
A hard disk failure can cost you countless gigabytes of important data. HDDScan is a program that analyzes the state of your drive and gives you in-depth details regarding various attributes. The program has a simple interface that is easy to figure out. It enables you to select any of the HDDs on the computer through a drop-down menu. The app can display various data regarding the drive. For instance, it can scan and deliver a detailed report regarding the S.M.A.R.T. attributes, such as the temperature, spin retry count, raw read error rate and errors count, just to name a few. The report can be saved to file (TXT or HTML) or sent to the printer. A long list of technical details regarding the HDD is also available. HDDScan may perform several S.M.A.R.T. tests. The “Short test” only takes a few second to complete, while the “Extended test” and “Conveyance test” take a little while longer. Also, the program can monitor the temperature of the hard disk over a period of time. Clicking on any of the entries in the Test Manager interface opens up a window that holds more information regarding the results. The utility works with all types of HDD interfaces, including ATA, SATA, FireWire and SCSI. The bottom line is that HDDScan is a useful tool that can help you keep an eye on your computer’s performance. Inexperienced users should find it easy to work with, thanks to the intuitive interface.
