Physion Description

Physion is a powerful and comprehensive physics simulator specially designed to create and execute physics experiments. Through addition of numerous elements of different types, you can produce different experiments and analyze and compare the obtained results. The program also lets you do some programming, which will allow you to get much more accurate results. The program's interface is very nice and intuitive. It presents a set of toolbars at the top of the window, from where you can easily access most of the elements available, and add them to the central workspace to form what is called "a scene". Among those elements, I should mention the rectangle, circle, polygon, balloon, freehand shape, chain, rope, text, gear, image, explosion, camera, shot, plot, spring, and different types of joints, like distance, revolute, and prismatic. Besides that, the program also offers you additional tools to erase and remove objects, plus an extra tool that lets you choose among union, intersection or difference between two primary objects. On the left side, the program also offers an additional panel called "Quick Load". Here you can see a preview of all the scenes saved in a specific folder of your choice, and open any of them with just a double click. However, it also allows you to save your scenes as files and open existing ones the traditional way - that is, using the menu bar. The program includes many pre-designed examples that you can open, run, modify, and analyze. Finally, there is another panel on the right where you will find the Property Editor. Here you can see and change all the possible properties of any object. Besides, the program also offers you additional panels that you can make visible or hide, including the console, the scene properties, and the command history. There are also "perspectives" - predefined sets of visible panels that you can navigate easily. Once you have totally or partially created your scene, you can play it or pause it, save it, upload it, export it as an image, create a new one or load an existing one, among other actions. All in all, Physion is a great program to create and analyze physical experiments and their results. Ricardo Soria Editor rating:
