PodSucker Description
PodSucker is a lightweight Windows application designed specifically for helping you download podcast feeds using straightforward actions. Simple looks The utility adopts a clean and plain design that embeds most of its configuration settings right into the main panel. A help manual is not included in the package but the program’s features are intuitive so even less experienced users can decode them on the fly. Downloading options PodSucker gives you the possibility to build up a list with the podcasts that you want to download. You may add a new podcast by providing details about the URL, name and description. What’s more, you can refresh the list with podcasts with a single click, view information about the publishing date, title/description and status, start or stop the downloading process, as well as switch to the queue list in order to check details about each podcast (name, description and completed percentage). There’s support for only a few settings that allow you to specify the initial episode download count, pick the saving directory, limit the maximum number of concurrent downloads to a user-defined value, and change ID3 tags for MP3 files. During our testing on Windows 8.1 Pro the application crashed several times when trying to download podcasts and became unresponsive upon adding new feeds. It hasn’t been updated for a long time so it may cause compatibility issues on newer operating systems. Bottom lineTo sum things up, PodSucker delivers a simplistic software solution for helping you manage your podcasts feeds and download new episodes, and can be handled by all types of users, regardless of their experience level. However, several improvements are needed in order to boost the app's functionality. Reviewed by Ana Marculescu, last updated on January 5th, 2015
