Poplar Description

The Poplar application was designed to make generation of development trees a breeze. It does so by enabling you to define your own generators in which creating files and directories should be as simple as possible: files and directories that just need to be copied only need to be placed at the right location. The most simple generator is one which only copies directories and files. Different generators can 'create' the same directories. For instance, a log4net generator might copy log4net.dll to the 'lib' directory and an NUnit generator might copy nunit.framework.dll to the 'lib' directory. When the log4net generator is called, Poplar will create the 'lib' directory and copy log4net.dll to it. When the NUnit generator is called, Poplar detects that the 'lib' directory already exists and just copies nunit.framework.dll. It is important to realize though that the process is different for files. If both generators would have a file 'readme.txt' that would have to be copied to the 'lib' directory, an already existing 'readme.txt' from the other generator would be overwritten.
