ProtSeqFetch Description

ProtSeqFetch is a small, Java based application, specially designed to help you download protein sequences from NCBI or NR database. This software offers these tools: Download sequence data: Two options are provided to download sequence data from NCBI or local NR file. Uploading list of organisms: Two options are provided to the user for uploading list of organisms. One is through keyboard by entering organism in a textfield. The second way is by selecting a file containing list of organisms. The sequences are downloaded to nrSequencesI.fa file in the downloads directory. If any redundant sequences were found, they are saved to redSequences.fa file. Download NR database: This function provides user to download NR database from NCBI to local system. There are total 4 parts from nr.00 to nr.03 available for download. User needs to enter which part to download (from 0 to 3). Each file is about 800 mb in size. and may take several hours to download based on your internet speed. Check organism: This utility can be used to check the correctness of the given organism name by connecting to NCBI and validating.
