RChart Description

New image file formats supported for snapshot function - With rChart you can now create snapshots from your chart in any of several popular formats. Added to the JPEG format supported by previous versions are now GIF, TIFF, PNG, and Windows bitmap. User-defined computer name for rChart license registration - When registering your rChart license, you can now assign it a name - any name. This is helpful in situations where one license covers two or more computers. If you ever need to move a license to another computer, you can now refer to it by name. Image output from server component - The rChart server component now includes two new functions (MakeImage and StreamImage) to output images. This adds the capability for the server component to generate static images in any of a number of popular formats as well as Flash. Static image formats which are supported include JPEG, GIF, TIFF, PNG and Windows bitmap. One function can be used to create an image file, the other can be used to stream an image directly to the browser (the same way you can stream Flash). Updates to online help - We have made some updates and additions to the online help. Context-specific help is now available in most dialogs. Information about the server component is now more complete, and detailed information has been broken out into a separate help file. The server component reference can be found in the rChart section of your computer's Start menu in both online help and PDF formats. Manuals now included as PDF files - The rChart installation now includes manuals as printable PDF files, which appear in the rChart section of your computer's Start menu. Improved color control - Color selections now make use of an improved color selector. XP look is more consistent - When operating on XP, rChart's user interface is now more consistent with XP. Support for UNICODE - This version of rChart now supports UNICODE, with some limitations. rChart can access UNICODE data from any supported source, however some foreign-language text may not display correctly in charts. Plot palette - This version of rChart introduces a new dynamic, visual plot palette. This palette includes a feature which allows you to add plot styles from the chart style gallery. Revised data wizard - The data wizard has been re-designed to improve "flow" and allow for future extensions. Resizeable dialogs - Most of the dialogs (excluding wizards) are now resizeable. Look for the the resizing indicator in the lower right corner of each dialog which supports resizing. Revert command (File menu) - There is now a revert command on the file menu. This re-opens the current document, discarding any changes and reverting back to the last saved version of your chart file.
