Merlin was imprisoned in the Crystal Caves by the evil sorceress, Morgause. Half sister of Arthur and mother of the equally evil son Mordred. Born of an incestuous relationship with Arthur. After tricking Merlin into teaching her the "Black Arts" she imprisoned him in the crystals where he remains to this day. Waiting for the return of Arthur and Excalibur to free him.
