WCS Touch Browser Description

Most popular web browsers are not touch-friendly enough. With the unquestionable trend towards the use of touch-screens either in tablets or portable devices, there is the need of a really touch-friendly browser. WCS Touch Browser has been designed to fill this gap. In addition, it provides a lot of other revolutionary features not commonly found in other browsers. In my opinion, the interface is not really attractive. The default color combination of different shades of gray is not eye-appealing. Nevertheless, you can use other color combinations or even create new ones. You will soon notice that the interface has been designed to be “finger-friendly” because of the use of a large font size and the minimalistic appearance conceived to save screen space. One thing I miss is the set of buttons on the right-upper corner present in most windows. It has been replaced by a non-intuitive button that drops down a menu. What is worse, there is always a Maximize button even when the browser’s window is already maximized. Notice that there should be a Restore button instead. Some of the main concerns among users when we consider what browser to use are speed and security; and these have been the Achilles’ heel of many browsers. WCS Touch Browser allows you to choose from two browsing engines: Trident (used in Internet Explorer) and Webkit (used in Chrome and Safari). This means that you can benefit from the advantages of any of these engines. Special mention is deserved by the multiple features of this browser. You can find really useful functions under the Tools and Widgets menu entries. WCS Touch Browser allows you to view multiple pages on the same screen. In order to make it even friendlier with portable devices, you can use alternative methods to the usual keyboard input. These include using your voice or handwriting. Similarly, there is also a built-in text-to-speech engine for you to listen to the page contents instead of reading them. Unfortunately, it generated an error when I tried to use these features. You can also make annotations directly on the screen. I was particularly impressed by the snapshot tool, which allowed me to take snapshots of selected portions of a webpage. There are also tools to translate web pages, view images, play media files, read RSS feeds and manage downloads. In general, WCS Touch Browser allows you to navigate the Internet more comfortably using touch-screen devices. However, if you would still like to hold on to Google Chrome, let me tell you that there is an extension, called ChromeTouch, that allows you to use in a finger-friendlier way.
