nSMS is a very small software program that lets you easily send text messages from your computer with the help of an email-to-SMS gateway. The application is actually so small that it does not even require installation on your hard drive. This means that you are able to copy nSMS to any location or folder on your computer or to any type of portable storage unit, such as a USB flash drive, CD, DVD and so on. As a result, you are going to be able to send free text messages from any computer that has a USB port or a DVD-R. In addition to that, the Windows registry does not get updated with new keys, nor will the tool add new entries to the Start menu. The interface of the program is highly simple and therefore, it is going to be easy for everybody to text using it. On the upper side of the main window you can view buttons that correspond to the ‘Settings’, ‘Contacts’, ‘Recipient’ and ‘Send’ actions. On the lower side, there is a text box followed by a small progress bar that shows you when 160 characters have been exceeded (the limit for a SMS). The program enables you to add an unlimited number of contacts and their phone numbers, all of which are maintained in an XML database. In order for this program to properly work, you have to input the SMTP server address (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol), your e-mail to SMS gateway, login and password.
