xSQL Object Description

xSQL Object is a professional SQL tool for comparing and synchronizing SQL Server database schemas. Whether you are a developer or a database administrator xSQL Object will no doubt save you an important amount of time and effort. xSQL Object for SQL Server database schema comparison and synchronization comes with a completely redesigned interface. It is built on top of a much more robust, flexible and open framework and provides support for SQL Server 2005. xSQL Object adds new very useful features and supports many hard to handle scenarios that were not supported before and are not yet supported by most of the competing products. Note: xSQL Object is part of xSQL Bundle that also comprises xSQL Data Compare. Main features: Workspace - a SQL Server Enterprise Manager style workspace allows you to store the servers, connection information, databases you have chosen to add to the workspace etc. ? you can create different workspaces for different sets of servers and databases so that next time you just load the workspace and jump straight into a comparison. Comparison Sessions - another great time saver, allows you to save all the selections you have made like the types of objects you would like to include in the comparison, comparison options you have selected etc. ? this is very helpful for situations when you want to periodically perform a comparison/synchronization with a certain configuration. Compare wizard - it's all about saving time, the compare wizard eliminates the need for you to figure out how things work in xSQL Object ? you just follow the prompts from one step to the other. Regular expression object filters - for large schema databases selecting the objects you want to compare simply by type may not be enough as that may still leave you with thousands of objects that you may not care to compare ? that's where the schema filters come into play, you can filter just the objects you want by configuring filters based on the object names. Cross version comparison and synchronization - you can compare SQL Server 2005 databases with SQL Server 2000 databases; the engine will compare the objects that are relevant for both sides. The synchronization scripts are version specific ? if moving changes from 2000 to 2005 the synch script is a 2005 compliant script and vice versa. Safe, standardized scripts - the change script is wrapped in transactions to ensure that the changes will either happen in their entirety or not happen at all. For every object that is affected by the change the scripts are organized in clearly defined sections, the set settings are properly initialized and the errors are logged and handled. Schema snapshots - allow you to not only maintain a history (audit trail) of the schema changes, but they also provide a very efficient and safe way for reversing schema changes when necessary. Simply compare the database in question with the snapshot of itself, taken right before the changes were made and generate the script for reversing changes. Unattended comparison and synchronization - the included xSQL Object Command Line utility that can be easily configured through the xSQL Object interface allows you to schedule the comparison and synchronization operations via the Windows Task Scheduler, SQL Server scheduler etc. Ready to deploy database creation scripts - generate a complete databases script, properly ordered based on the dependencies between the objects, that is ready to deploy on another server.
