Free History Eraser Description
Free History Eraser is a very easy to use application that does exactly what its name suggests: erases the history and thus removes the traces of your previous browsing sessions. Although Windows already comes with such a feature, allowing users to remove cookies or temporary Internet files straight from within the browser, Free History Eraser comes as an even easier to use alternative, reducing the whole process to just a single click. And truth is, Free History Eraser is indeed a software solution addressed to beginners, although the interface doesn't look too good. It is very simple, that's true, and although you may expect a more appealing look, it still gets the job done. The erasing process targets the Internet history, the index.dat files and address bar AutoComplete files. As you can see, it doesn't provide a comprehensive solution to completely get rid of files dropped on your computer while browsing the web, but it is especially useful if you intend to hide the webpages you've been visiting. The main window holds an intuitively-named “Erase” button, but also a so-called “AutoErase” tool to automatically erase the files. The scanning process takes just a few seconds and the application needs a moderate amount of hardware resources to complete the job, with all files to be removed shown right in the main window. Free History Eraser works flawlessly on Windows XP, but it fails to remove the files on Windows 7, so it's probably just a compatibility issue with this version of the operating system. Overall, Free History Eraser may come in handy to some users, but the market is already full of more advanced software solutions able to clean all traces of your web browsing sessions.
