xbasics Ulinzi Description
xbasics Ulinzi is an easy to use software application explicitly designed for the development of Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) based Certification and Accreditation (C&A) analysis and documentation. xbasics Ulinzi is a direct implementation of the corresponding standards and guidelines developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in accordance to the requirements described in Title III of the E-Government Act of 2002 (Public Law 107-347), better known as FISMA. Ulinzi focuses on the first two activities needed to make any US federal information system, with the exception of systems identified as national security systems1, compliant with FISMA. These activities include the Security Categorization of the corresponding information and information systems and the development of a compliant set of Security Controls. The Security Categorization of a given information system and the information serviced by it produces an overall security impact level, which reflects the possible consequeces caused as a result of actions like the unauthorized disclosure, modification or loss of availability of the information and/or the information system. The development of a set of Security Controls forms the technical, operational and managerial security requirement base for a given information system. These two activities are interrelated with the impact level resulting from the Security Categorization feeding into the selection of Security Controls. xbasics Ulinzi provides several tools and mechanisms to ease and simplify the overall process in the analysis and development of these two activities and a lot more. Take xbasics Ulinzi for a test drive to see just how useful it can be for you!
