Archiving emails is a quite common practice if you need to keep track of your correspondence over long periods of time. Delete2Archive is a simple plug-in designed to work with the Mail.app that offers you the possibility to quickly archive the current message by pressing the Delete key. Developed to fix an issue when it comes to the Google accounts integration in the Mail.app on Mac OS X Mavericks, the plug-in also works with other types of accounts. Keep in mind that you will not receive any type of notifications: to see if it works make sure you check your Archive folder. The Delete2Archive installation process is quite simple: quit the Mail application, open the Delete2Archive package and copy the plug-in folder to the /Library/Mail/Bundles/ directory. The next step is to relaunch Mail and check if the plug-in works properly. To be able to open the Library folder, navigate to a Finder window and, while you have the “Go” menu open, hold down the Option key: you will be able to view the Library entry in the menu. To avoid issues with the installation, you may also run the following commands in the Terminal application: “defaults write ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist EnableBundles -bool true” and “defaults write ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist BundleCompatibilityVersion -int 4” . This way, the Mail application will check if new plug-ins are installed on each launch. However, the Delete2Archive uninstallation process is as simple as a drag and drop to the Trash icon. All in all, Delete2Archive is a very easy to use Apple Mail.app plug-in that offers you the possibility to quickly archive your email messages even if you are not using a Google mail account.
