9buntu Description

9buntu is an open source project that aims to deliver a stable, easy to use and install, freely distributed and lightweight computer operating system oriented towards geeks and advanced Linux users. It is based off of Ubuntu. It’s distributed as a 32-bit Live CD The distribution can be downloaded from Softpedia as Live CD ISO image that contains software packages optimized only for the 32-bit (i386) instruction set architecture, despite the fact that it is bootable on 64-bit machines. Minimal Live CD boot menu The Live CD boot menu is very minimal, designed to allow you to start the live system with normal configuration, as well as to perform a throughout RAM (system memory) test. Type the “live” command (without quotes) on the boot prompt and press the Enter key to start the live system. Lightweight graphical interface Being designed from the ground up to be as low on resources as possible, the 9buntu Linux operating system comes with a lightweight graphical interface based on the very minimal 9wm window manager. Keep in mind though, that you must use the “ubuntu” username (without quotes and without a password) to log into the graphical session. Comes with basic applications With 9buntu, users will be able to surf the Internet, execute commands in a terminal emulator, write simple text documents, take notes, as well as to send or recieve emails. It is no longer under active development Unfortunately, the 9buntu operating system is no longer under active development, which means that it won’t receive security patches and software updates anymore. It has been archived for historical references purposes only.
